Although, I showed it to my friend, and she told me she got tears in her eyes reading it, because it made her think back to that night. "It's wonderful!" she said, so I decided, heck, I'll share it.
Enjoy!!
Because You Loved Us: My Night In Houston
by Morgan M
We arrive at the venue,
A crowd of bubbly Claymates,
All there for the same reason,
To see you.
I clutch the arm of my best friend,
We look at each other a second before walking through the doors,
The doors that lead us to you,
And we smile to each other,
A smile that speaks volumes.
We find our seats and sit,
Now, we are waiting.
It is my first show,
And I've never felt time pass slower.
I find myself trembling more and more
With each passing second.
My breath comes quicker,
My knees bounce uncontrollably.
It's nearly time.
Suddenly, the door opens,
Jesse takes his place on stage.
Everyone claps and cheers, and my shaking gets worse.
Then, following Jesse,
Comes Angela and Quiana.
They take their place at their mics,
The cheers get louder,
Anticipaton ripples through the crowd.
I still can't believe it's here.
With one swift, magical move of Jesse's hand,
The symphony begins to play.
I hear the familiar notes of "Here You Come Again",
And my heart races.
Tears jump to my eyes as I hear you begin to sing,
Though I can't see you,
I know you're there.
In the blink of an eye,
There you are, walking onstage,
It's really you.
The man I've waited to see for 4 years,
And my time has finally come.
My stomach ties in knots as you look my way,
Smiling at the screaming crowd.
You take us on a two and a half hour musical journey.
We laugh, we dance, we cry,
We're all family, you say.
And it's all because of you.
As quickly as it began,
The show ends,
You leave us with a "Goodnight, Houston"
And you are gone.
But though the concert is ended,
The real miracle is yet to come.
We see Jerome and a crowd of people outside,
And we approach them, curious.
Jerome simply says "Line up against the wall."
My heart nearly stops when I realize what he means.
As fast as my 4 inch heels can carry me, I race to find my best friend.
We head back to the line and stand against the wall,
My stomach all in knots, squeezing my friend's hand.
Then, I hear the words that change my life.
"It's him, it's Clay." My friend whispers in awe.
I look to my left, and there you are.
Walking towards me, saying "Thank you for coming"
And I can't believe it's happening.
I feel like I'm dreaming,
Though I'm wide awake.
Then, as if in slow motion,
Your hand reaches over and squeezes my own.
A quick, two-second touch.
The feeling of my hand in yours makes my heart jump to my throat,
I wanted to speak, but couldn't.
I can barely breathe.
I'm dazed for only a moment.
My best friend and I turn to each other, jumping up and down,
Shrieking like giddy schoolgirls, "I can't believe he touched us!"
Though it was just two seconds,
It was the best two seconds of my entire sixteen years.
Thank you, Clay, for showing me miracles exist.
