I was reading some posts today and decided to ask about something that I have been thinking about for a while. Why does reading a less than rosy or negative post about Clay interfere or diminish some people's enjoyment of Clay? I don't understand. If someone posts that they dont like the way he sings WDC, that's fine with me. It doesn't mean I won't like it. Their opinion won't affect my enjoyment of it when I see him in concert. Other people's opinions of Clay just dont affect how I feel about him or my enjoyment of a performance or song. My enjoyment of Clay is well, for lack of a better word, mine. It's not dependent or affected by what others say or do.
What difference does it make if I say I didn't like the concept of the Way video (which I didn't, loved Clay in it though)? What does that matter to other people? How could that make someone enjoy Clay less? Do people really care that much about my opinion? To be perfectly honest, I don't think so.
Let's put it another way, I love sushi. One of my friends hates it and calls it bait. OK everyone doesnt have to like the same things as me. Because my friend hates it, that doesn't mean that I dont still like sushi and eat it often. Heck I even order it when we go to lunch together!
I'm not talking about people who are upset with "nitpicking." I'm talking about people who say their enjoyment of Clay is affected in a negative manner by other people expressing a negative, or what's perceived to be negative, opinion. I don't understand it.
Am I alone on this one?
