Good morning all!

We will be tracking week 86 sales for Tried and True in this thread. Enjoying the new single Bring Back My Love - to AC radio in January. And enjoying the interview promo that Clay is doing for Celebrity Apprentice now that the official announcement has been made! Upcoming - Feb 19 premiere of Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. Clay is scheduled as a judge for Feb 18 DCINY.org event and as soloist/narrator for a DCINY concert on Feb 20.

Our last numbers for TNT are from 2/4/11 (USA Today Idol Chatter column).

Note that this does not include albums sold through PBS stations as those are not sound-scanned per Pink Armchair.

The milestones from Clay's first four full albums are in post 2 of this thread for reference.

It wouldn't be an HDD thread without starting with our sales poem, kindly written by Ilbun.

AMERICAN IDOL REPORT

**** Chart Week of January 16, 2012 ****

As American Idol enters its 11th season, the show's first winner and its most recent champion have albums in the top 40 of The Billboard 200. Kelly Clarkson's Stronger finds itself at No. 14 this week (two notches higher than last week), while Scotty McCreery's certified-platinum Clear as Day debut sits at No. 34, having sold a total of 879,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

I don't know about you, but I think that makes a pretty strong statement about Idol's lasting impact on the eve of a new season.

Daughtry, James Durbin and Lauren Alaina all have albums in The Billboard 200, as well. In fact, James sees his weekly sales climb 12% (a jump fueled by digital sales of Memories of a Beautiful Disaster more than doubling from the previous week).

Kidz Bop Kids, Attack Attack! Bow in Top 10

Almost a year after its release last February, XL/Columbia pop songbird Adele’s 21 is showing no signs of letting up. In its 48th week on the chart, the multi-Grammy nominee’s sophomore album spends its 17th week at #1, topping Titanic and tying Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All back in 1992. The all-time record for weeks at #1 is held by the West Side Story soundtrack, which spent a total of 54 from 1962-63, followed by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, with 37 weeks on top. The 96k in sales this week sends 21’s total in the U.S. past 6.1 million.

Razor & Tie’s Kidz Bop 21 is the highest-charting debut of the week, with 56k in sales, good for #2. YM/CM/Universal Republic’s Drake (#3), Nonesuch’s Black Keys (#4) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#5) round out the leaders.

Rise rockers Attack Attack! are the other Top 10 newcomers, in at #9, alongside Def Jam/IDJ’s Young Jeezy (#6), Capitol/EMI’s Coldplay (#7), Show Dog’s Toby Keith (#12-8, +13%) and Interscope’s LMFAO (#17-10, +19%).

Other new Top 50 entries include Fiya/Light/eOne gospel group James Fortune & Fiya (#13), Zoe/Rounder’s Kathleen Edwards (#40), RCA Nashville’s Martina McBride (#45) and Universal Republic’s Gotye (#50).

A pair of hits compilations re-enter the chart in Curb’s Tim McGraw Number One Hits (#34) and Capitol/EMI’s Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band’s Ultimate Hits (#48).

The week’s biggest sales increases were scored by Universal Republic’s Florence + the Machine (#45-32, +29%) and Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#48-33, +29%), followed by WaterTower Music’s Joyful Noise soundtrack (#20-12, +18%).

This week’s new releases include Curb’s Tim McGraw, Epic’s Lamb of God, Universal Republic’s 2012 Grammy Nominees, BNA’s Kellie Pickler, Reprise’s Seal and Amnesty International’s Chimes of Freedom: Dylan Songs album.

Next week, look for Interscope’s controversial diva Lana Del Rey, Columbia’s Leonard Cohen and WB’s Metallica.

ADELE CHALLENGES BODYGUARD

Her 18th Week at #1 Gives Her Longest Run Since Whitney Houston Soundtrack January 25, 2012 So what else is new? For the 18th non-consecutive week, XL/Columbia Grammy darling Adele’s 21 will be the #1 album. That’s based on one-day sales reports from those on and offline retailers who haven’t closed shop to set up Newt Gingrich campaign headquarters. Adele’s chart-topping performance will send her past Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All, with 17, and turn her sights to the Bodyguard soundtrack, which logged a total of 20 weeks at #1, ending on May 29, 1993, the longest previous run. Adele beat out this week's new releases, including Curb’s new Tim McGraw album, Emotional Traffic, his first studio effort since 2009’s Southern Voice, which is now targeted for between 65-75k, quite a bit fewer than the 137k that album racked up. Epic heavy metal gods Lamb of God’s seventh album, Resolution, is looking at estimates in the 50-55k range after scoring 68k for their previous release, 2009’s Wrath. Universal Republic has the new 2012 Grammy Nominees album, with first-week prognostications of 50-55k, which would top last year’s 38k opening tally. Cabin 24/Mom + Pop’s Ingrid Michaelson, going through RED, will see her new album, Human Again, her fifth, launch with 35-40k in sales. BNA’s Idol alum Kellie Pickler’s 100 Proof, her third, should do between 23-27k, while Amnesty International’s four-CD Bob Dylan tribute, Chimes of Freedom, is looking at 15-20k. Album sales were down 1% vs. last week, down 4% vs. same week last year and up 3% year to date. Track sales were down 2% vs. last week, up 6% vs. same week last year and up 7% year to date. TEA sales were down 1% vs. last week, down 1% vs. same week last year and up 4% year to date.

Brian Mansfield finally came through with some album updates. ETA: Tried and True sold 5K more albums since last February. The others are essentially the same (MCWL is a little lower but I wonder if the numbers he reported in 2010 were wrong).

With her most recent week's sales, Kelly Clarkson's Stronger passes the half-million mark in sales. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Stronger sold 15,000 copies last week, putting its release-to-date sales at 501,000.

Although James Durbin's Memories of a Beautiful Disaster drops out of The Billboard 200 this week, the two top finishers from American Idol Season 10 saw their weekly sales go up: Scotty McCreery's Clear as Day climbed 7%, while Lauren's Alaina's Wildflower sprang up 41%.
