Universal Records as a whole are fantastic. They are a HEAVY presence here in the UK. I've just completed a module in Music Industry in my studies, and Universal was one of the three major labels, TOPPING BMG/SONY [aka, RCA]. So, believe me; Clay is in FANTASTIC hands.

My personal music tastes aren't to everybody's liking, but the majority of artists I listen to are actually under Universal. And as for international, Universal are renowned for taking that leap and bringing most of their artists international -- DON'T FORGET NORTHERN IRELAND CLAY!

Island Records is a subsection of Universal, probably the most popular. And, Colbie Caillat was signed by them -- she's REALLY reputable with music.

Clay Aiken Signs with Decca Records

"American Idol" finalist Clay Aiken, who made his Broadway debut in Monty Python's Spamalot, has signed with Universal Music's Decca Records.

According to the singer's official website, he will release a new CD in the first half of 2010. No other details have been announced.

Aiken - who was bested by Ruben Studdard during the second season of "American Idol" - has gone on to sell more than six million albums, co-author a best selling book ("Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life") and play six sold-out concert tours. He was a focus of the short-lived Off-Broadway musical Idol: The Musical and has appeared on "Ed," "Saturday Night Live" and "Scrubs."

Aiken released his fourth album, "On My Way Here," last spring.

As someone said at the OFC, they aren't just signing Clay but a whole "Nation"! I certainly hope we will now hear him on the radio eventually and, of course, see him on tour!!! Congrats, Clay!!!

Very EXCITED for Clay and ALL of us!!! One of my immediate reactions was, new album.................wouldn't this mean a TOUR!!!! Where, when??????? lol, I know getting ahead of myself, but hey, gets me all EXCITED thinking about hearing that wonderful voice, seeing that beautiful face...........

On My Way Here's debut in Billboard Magazine's Top 5 continued his streak of all four of his albums having debuted in the Top 5.

Aiken made his Broadway debut in January, 2008 when he joined the cast of Monty Python's Spamalot for a four-month run. Aiken appeared as Sir Robin in the Tony Award-winning musical. In September, 2008 he returned to the role, staying with the hit musical comedy until January 4, 2009, just prior to its closure on January 11.

Clay is really lucky to be getting a second chance at a recording career! He needs to start out with a whole new team that have objectivitty and the ability to tell him like it is! (Edited, Off-topic ~Mamarose) I wish Clay the best in this new endeavor!
