This is an "A" lister event each and every time. And yes the jokes are nasty - - but it's to all be taken in stride. And the first thing I can think of is "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" I'm sure Clay could've declined and I'm sure he knows the history of the FRIARS CLUB!! JMHO

I mean, he made a big deal about how vile Triumph the Dog's jokes were a few years ago, but they were NOTHING compared to this garbage.

Can we just pause for a minute and realize that no one knows AT ALL just exactly what Clay said in his roast to Matt Lauer tonight. He could have just been a tad snarky without being 'crude & rude' . Yes that's very true - - when a celeb is up there roasting Matt Lauer - - he/she can take shots at any or all the celebs there. And then at the end Matt Lauer gets to get up and FIRE BACK and can shoot jokes at everyone else. Just please remember this is all in fun - to be taken in stride and just plain fun and tradition going back many decades.

Clay surely expected to take a few jabs. Actually, they were extremely mild compared to the comments aimed at Matt and many others in attendance. His "real" character was displayed at TBAF Gala and at Spamalot when he tried to finish the show with a sprained ankle. I bet if it was up to him and not the doctor, he would have been there tonight too.
