Maybe there is something to the "cycle" comment at Bennihana. It sure seems like it. So much drama over every word and perceived wrong that would pretty much be business as usual most days. Geez! I suspect it's because he's going away for awhile. He'll be back - he needs a rest. He's earned it.

I agree ladies.

I felt like his comments were referring to "those who saw the show 50+ times." I think he was trying to embarrass them. Make them look rude and inconsiderate. It must be so obvious from the stage when someone close enough to be seen on a regular basis is dismissing the performance of those other than Clay. I think he felt badly about those fans hurting his Spam family and was taking a "stab" at them. The rest of us are the ones who showed the utmost respect for the entire cast. He knows who is rude and who isn't. I think he made his point, I just hate that some feel hurt that he was talking about the supportive fans when I really believe that he wasn't.

I just had my husband watch the Kimmel interview. He has gone to some Clay concerts with me and was happy to take me to NYC to see Spamalot two nights. He is a fan, but doesn't know a lot of details, so I think he had a pretty objective opinion.

He laughed through the whole interview and didn't think anything was offensive. I asked again - you didn't think the bust thing was weird or anything - and he said no, it was funny. I admit I did cringe while watching that segment, but DH actually was laughing the hardest through it. And he does not criticize Clay. As I said, he is a fan and listens to his music. I asked about what Clay said about the OTT fans at Spamalot, and most of that just went over his head. He just said the whole interview was funny and Kimmel obviously likes Clay. So I'm hoping the NJU see it his way.

I think it bothers me more, because I saw some things that were filmed that were not used..and the fact all this "auditioning" took place amongst all the fans in line, on the street, in front of everyone..it was very uncomfortable for me

I agree with this!! We need to step back and not over-anaylize (sp) everything!

Every time Clay is on Kimmell, it is not going to 'top what they did the last time, or 'be the best skit or interview ever!'
The show was fun! The skit was fun!
He sang well!! What more could we ask for??

I would have preferred different clothes, but hey, who cares what I think??!!
