Here is a recap from a friend of mine who I have recently ClayVerted:
"He was good. Are the backup singers his "girls"? And does he use his own musicians?
I figure during this period of promoting the cd he must just cart his people around with him.
I think that they probably dyed his eyelashes when he was in the show or something and it's
permanent. Because it still looks like he's got eyeliner on and it's WAAAAAYYYY past time for him to lose it. Unless it's permanent.
(Bobbi comment: can anyone tell me if his
eyes have been permanently lined?) I loved the segment with the people kissing that awful clay bust. Hysterical. Especially that cute
woman who was first, with the white hair. She was SO SINCERELY LOVING. And the
big guy was funny, and then they showed him singing EVERY WORD of OMWH, which of course was so funny. And I loved also when he talked abou the women who
came to Spamalot 50-60 times and how they were there at Kimmel and how they only laughed when HE was onstage. What a cutie."

I just watched the show (which I had recorded last night) and thought it was a lot of fun. The lemonade stand bit was really cute and I laughed out loud at
the fans reaction to Clay's bust. He didn't seem to be fazed by that reaction and I'm pretty sure the reason was that he has personally witnessed
the way Flat Clay is hugged and kissed and caressed on a regular basis!
My two complaints about the show are that they allowed Ryan Seacrest wayyyyy too much time. I thought he'd never leave. |

I watched Clay on Kimmel and I VERY MUCH enjoyed it because I ALWAYS ENJOY watching Clay and Kimmel interact together. No complaints here!!
I don't think that everything Clay does is wonderful, fantastic and/or without imperfection all of the time... that said, I am one who chooses to NOT dissect everything he does, wears, says and/or the way he sings on a board where his fans come to celebrate all things Clay. While I can and do respect the many diverse opinions of my fellow fans, I don't understand why 'some' think it's necessary to pick every single thing the man does, wears, says and/or the way that he sings a song, or wears his hair, apart in a public forum for all the world to see. It can be a bit disconcerting coming here sometimes.
I myself, greatly appreciate EVERY SINGLE TV appearance that Clay makes, and absolutely LOVE watching him no matter what he does. In the 5 years of my being a fan, Clay has never disappointed me, and I enjoy coming to this board to celebrate him, not pick him apart. Clay has enough "critics" and I need not be one of them. Of course, that's just my opinion... enough said.

I liked this line when Clay was looking at the bust "I don't have any teeth, just one line of tooth". lol, he's funny.

I love that Clay spoke about Chinatown. I've been to NYC Chinatown several times and loved it! I can see why he would be the tallest person there
'cos everyone's so short. He must have been amazed at the crowds on the sidewalks in Chinatown 'cos I was! On my last trip in Feb, I took this
picture and would love to share what he probably saw
See the octopus legs up close and personal in the middle front box and the actual octopus in the water in the box on the right side.

Mod Hat Off: There were so many commercials, I was seriously starting to wonder if I went into another time dimension.

I thought Clay and his performance were yummy.... I agree about the commercials. I had fallen
asleep and woke up when Ryan was on.... then fell asleep again during the bazillion commercials were on before Clay. Thank goodness I DVR'd it!!! I also
thought it was odd that Ryan was totally gone when Clay came on. (it was OK by me...just thought it was odd).
I am sad that he is off our radar for awhile.... (maybe that's a good thing after reading some of this thread)... but happy that he's getting a little R&R !! |

My thoughts on the Kimmel Show.
Overall I liked it. The lemonaide skit was funny, and the skit with the bust was fine. Even the kissing part, it was funny!! (some reason Lionel Ritchie's 'Hello' video comes to mind! I preferred Clay in his rehersal clothes too. I didn't care for the gray sweater. Together with the fact that his makeup looked a bit too tan and made his hair look too blond. (funny thing about this is he had the same hair on all the other shows and looked fine........l like the blond, but on this show I did not........lighting, clothes, and makeup can make a big difference!) OMWH was fine, and wish Ashes had not been cut off.....ggrrrrr!! Oh, another thing that kinda bothered me (and I have to go back and watch again) was the inferrence that during Spamalot the fans didnt spread the love around for all of the cast with our applause and cheers. When in fact we surely did!!! edit: I agree about the commercials..........way too many.....I was thinking 'You have got to be kidding, this is rediculous!!' edit #2

The show was great - always is on Jimmy - you can tell that they are friends.
Although I thought the entire show was pretty funny the kissing the bust segment was a bit OTT. But not such a big deal to fret about it. I appreciate all Clay's appearances - they are so few - why should we angst over them? Looking forward to Ferguson. God only knows when we see him on TV again!!! |

I can say I am truly shocked everyone wasn't EEEEEEEEing over how yummy Clay looked on Kimmel.
I think he looked perfect (including his hair and "tan"....loved it)!! I loved what he was wearing....yes that includes that cool sweater. It was no way a Cosby sweater!! It seems like some hate Clay to ever wear a sweater....no matter how great a sweater it may be (and this was my favorite Clay sweater). He looked soooo handsome and young and hip to me (and happy)!! I thought everything about this appearance was PERFECT except the Clay bust segment was *meh* and I wanted to hear more of Ashes. Two thumbs up for my Superstar's appearance on Kimmel.

Not disappointed in the least!! I love his goofy sweaters, his smile, his sparkly eyes, hearing that beautiful voice, the hair (and the anticipation of what color it will be, lol), the cameraderie between him and Jimmy. Every appearance is such a treat! I absolutely loved Clay on Kimmel !!! Oh, and I DVR'd it, so I could fast-forward through the commercials. Thought Clay looked relaxed, and happy ....... and ALL KINDS OF HAWT !!! I just love that man .... unconditionally Well, this may be the last time we see Clay for a while ..... hope he gets a much-deserved rest, and enjoys his summer |

I decided to wait overnight to write anything to see how I felt about it this morning. But I have to go with my first instincts...I think he looks good, if a
bit overdone, but I agree about the outfit he was wearing in that tease - much younger and cooler...the bust portion was seriously uncomfortable for me -
that's not a criticism of Clay, it's about Kimmel's choice of material. Clay was a great sport to go along with it like he did - although I have no
idea what he really thought. They cut his song off the last time he was on too so maybe that's what they want us to see to tease people to go on line. I
don't understand the people who say we can't give a critique of an appearance - isn't that why the message boards are here? No one said Clay was
bad or his interview was bad or his song was bad or his singing was bad. Some of us just didn't care for the Kimmel gift so much and liked the jeans.
