What an exciting time for Clay and for us, First a tremendous job on broadway in Spamalot, showing another oh so fantastic talent. and now a CD of knew,
original music to be released in a a month or so. I have very strong vibes that this CD will do extremely well, will get radio play, and that RCA is in his
corner this time. I also am ready to get on the phone and request (nicely) once the single is released. Some stations will always resist playing Clay, but
others are gradually coming around to the amazing talents of an amazing man!

I had so much I was going to say on this. But, AustenFan and TeddyHugz, said it all that I was going to say! Aweseome posts to both of you!!! I agree 110% with
everything you both just said.
And, much of wht AustenFan said about the whole ballad thing, and other aritsts, and their hits with ballads, well, it's what I've been saying for 5 years. Since MOAM was released, and all the negativity about him not getting radio play because all of the songs were ballads. Which in my opinion, not all of MOAM songs were ballads. Many were faster ballads. But, back then, I could name so many songs that were on the radio that were ballads, then name songs from MOAM, that fell into the same type of song. And, I just never got the "radio friendly" thing when talking about MOAM. So many of the songs on MOAM, could have competed with many of the songs on the radio at the time. MOAM never got the radio play or resepct it deserved. I am so excited that this new album is almost here. (But, still not soon enough for me). And, I am so happy to finally hear there is going to be a single. I hope it is released soon to radio! I think this new album is going to be great, and it is going to do very well. Radio play or not, it is going to do very well. But, then again, with every album Clay has done, he hasn't disappointed me yet. Hurry up May 6th.. get here soon! I cannot wait to hear these new songs! |

heart and soul since he opened his mouth . He has not yet disappointed me in the least and I don't believe he ever will ! I am so looking forward to what
he so excitedly is bringing to the table with this CD . It is the voice that captivates and the MAN that delivers every time ! |

forgotn1 - I am curious - do you listen to Top 40 FM radio? It is one of the few stations that comes in well in the barn here - so it is on
All The Time. And - brace yourself
Now if it is not ballads but Clay that will not get airplay - and I can almost guarantee that this same station will not play him as they barely played Invisible - then pfffffft - it is what it is. Top 40 style radioplay is not life and death for a successful recording career. I simply wish we wouldn't weigh everything so heavily and just say "oh no it's all going to be thrown away now" only because OMWH is a ballad. Face it he's always going to have ballads on the album.Well said, teddyhugz... |

I've just got to add this: I saw Clay in Spamalot 5 times last week, and all I can say is that voice is beyond glorious, even when it is not the focus of a
silly show like Spamalot. That little bit that was added about the "Idol (Idle?) of my age" and the yodeling? OMG, let me tell you that
there is nothing that compares with that voice. Clay's career is, in the end, all about the voice. The trick is to find songs that will showcase what it
can do, and it can do so many things.
Clay's voice is a little piece of heaven on earth, and I thank God for it. I just need to hear it. If top 40 or any other radio format won't play him, it's because they can't hear it. They are already a lost generation. That voice will transcend radio. It was meant to be heard. And it will be. Of that I have no doubt whatsoever. |

OMWH is a beautiful song by an edgy and well-respected songwriter. I'm happy it is the lead single. I loved it the moment i heard Ryan Tedder's demo.Omigosh, me too! It's raw and emotional in the same way as "Lover All Alone" is and excites me to think what current sound Kipper and Clay have given it! I hadn't really heard of Ryan Tedder before, but it does excite me that he's getting recognition as a great songwriter. That's credibility that should rub off on Clay, with any luck. As for not getting radio play because it's a ballad: IMHO that's ridiculous. Radio hasn't played Clay not because of ballads - they've not played Clay because Clay isn't cool, Clay doesn't play the payola game, and because Clay doesn't get any support from his label. AustenFan, bbandit and teddy - you all make great points and I tend to agree with y'all. |

That's credibility that should rub off on Clay, with any luck.I sort of see things the other way round--Ryan Tedder gets credibility because a singer of the caliber of Clay Aiken chooses his song as the title track and lead single on his 4th album. You know, Clay Aiken, who is a multi-platinum recording artist, the author of a best-selling book, a producer, a triumph on Broadway, and a UNICEF ambassador? Yeah, that guy. He's got all the credibility anyone would ever need. Tedder should be so lucky.

That, my friend, is it in a nutshell. I guess I'm lucky in that I like ballads and up-tempo, so I'm easily pleased when it comes to Clay. Bring it on, baby. |
